The lawsuit, filed in Texas, claims Harris has never received payment from a 2005 civil trial judgment that recognized her role in founding Death Row Records. As the label's first vice president and wife of financier Michael "Harry-O" Harris, she was entitled to significant compensation.
Key allegations in the lawsuit:
- Knight and others concealed financial records
- Filed fraudulent motions
- Misused bankruptcy court to avoid payment
- Used "systematic misrepresentation" to evade obligations
The dispute originates from the 1980s when Harry-O invested $1.5 million in Death Row Records' launch, with an agreement for a 50% profit share. While Harry-O served a 28-year prison sentence, Knight allegedly became unresponsive, prompting Lydia Harris to pursue legal action.
Snoop Dogg's involvement stems from his 2022 acquisition of Death Row Records from MNRK Music Group. Harris seeks:
- Punitive damages
- Recovery of owed assets
- Complete accounting of Death Row Records' finances
