The anonymous Jane Doe states in Los Angeles court documents that she refused to recant her story when approached by Jay-Z's investigators, claiming the experience left her "intimidated and terrified." She explains she dropped the original case due to fears of public exposure and backlash, not because her claims were false.
In direct contradiction, Jay-Z's legal team has filed sworn statements from private investigators claiming Jane Doe admitted the rapper didn't assault her and that her attorney, Tony Buzbee, pushed her to pursue the case for financial gain.
Buzbee strongly refutes these allegations, stating another law firm initially took the case in October before referring it to his firm. He maintains that documentation proves he neither solicited Jane Doe nor suggested pursuing action against Jay-Z.
Jay-Z's lawyers are now seeking permission to depose both Jane Doe and Buzbee under oath, an unusual request outside the normal discovery phase. They argue this step is necessary to uncover the truth behind the allegations.
Jay-Z (Shawn Carter) continues to deny all accusations, characterizing the situation as a "blackmail attempt" and suggesting it's part of a broader scheme by Buzbee to extract settlements by falsely connecting celebrities to Sean "Diddy" Combs, who currently faces federal charges in New York.
The case remains ongoing, with both parties maintaining their positions and new evidence continuing to emerge through court filings.
