Justin Bieber and several other high-profile celebrities face a class-action lawsuit over their promotion of Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs. Key allegations in the lawsuit:
- Celebrities failed to disclose their relationship with Yuga Labs before promoting BAYC NFTs
- Talent manager Guy Oseary allegedly orchestrated a scheme using his network of celebrities
- MoonPay reportedly served as a front to process secret payments from Yuga Labs to celebrities
- The scheme allegedly aimed to artificially boost the value of Bored Ape NFTs
The lawsuit claims MoonPay's "white-glove service" was used to mask compensation to celebrities for their NFT promotions, rather than its stated purpose of helping wealthy individuals purchase NFTs more easily.
Yuga Labs has denied all allegations, stating they are "opportunistic and parasitic" and "without merit."
