TikTok Loses Another Top Executive as Blake Chandlee Exits Ahead of April 5th Ban Deadline
TikTok's Global Business Solutions Head Blake Chandlee has announced his departure from the company, revealed through an internal memo to staff. This exit follows closely behind former Global Head of Music Ole Obermann's move to Apple Music last month.
Chandlee, who has been with TikTok since 2019 and played a crucial role in defending the platform against ban proposals, will step down from his position overseeing marketing and ad sales on April 1st. He will transition to an advisory role, with Will Liu, head of the global monetization production team, taking leadership of the combined department.

In his memo, Chandlee explained the restructuring: "As our offerings become more technical and our client product solutions become more sophisticated to provide even more value, it is important that global business solutions (GBS) and global monetization product technology (GMPT) operate increasingly hand-in-hand."
This departure adds to a growing list of recent executive exits, including:
- Ole Obermann, Global Head of Music
- Sameer Singh, Head of Ad Sales, North America
- Jack Bamberger, US General Manager of Agency Business
The timing is particularly significant as TikTok faces a crucial deadline on April 5th regarding the divest-or-ban law, which requires ByteDance to sell its US operations to a US-based company. While the Trump administration maintains a sale is progressing, both ByteDance and the Chinese government have expressed opposition to such a move.
