The US government has formally responded to Sean "Diddy" Combs' accusations of racial targeting, calling his claims "outrageous and illogical." The response comes as Combs attempts to have charges against him dismissed.

In documents filed on March 4, federal officials stated that race played no part in the charges, which they say stem from "decades of criminal conduct" by the defendant. The government emphasized that Combs' allegations are based purely on conjecture.

Combs' legal team filed a motion last month challenging specifically the charge of transportation to engage in prostitution—one of three counts alongside sex trafficking and racketeering. They argue that the Mann Act, which prohibits transportation of women for sex, has never been used to prosecute a white person in a similar manner.

The defense claims Combs is being targeted because he is "a powerful Black man" and argues that the conduct in question "regularly goes unpunished." They maintain all sexual activity was consensual and accuse federal prosecutors of leaking case information to media outlets to prejudice the jury pool.

Government prosecutors previously dismissed similar accusations during an October pre-trial hearing as "baseless," warning that such claims posed a "serious risk" to conducting a fair trial. The case is scheduled to begin on May 5.
