Jay-Z has launched a countersuit against a Jane Doe and her attorney Tony Buzbee following the dismissal of sexual assault allegations against him. The suit claims defamation and extortion, marking a significant legal response to accusations that were recently dropped.

The initial lawsuit, filed in October and amended in December, accused Jay-Z (Shawn Carter) and Diddy (Sean Combs) of sexual assault at an MTV Video Music Awards afterparty in 2000. The accuser claimed she was a minor at the time.

Key points of Jay-Z's countersuit:

  • Claims the allegations were "knowingly false" and "malicious"
  • Alleges Buzbee sent an "extortionate" demand letter before publicly naming Carter
  • States the accuser admitted to representatives that the story was false
  • Seeks damages for malicious prosecution, abuse of process, civil conspiracy, and defamation

Attorney Tony Buzbee responded to Variety, stating:

  • The new case "has no legal merit"
  • Claims Carter's investigators have harassed and intimidated the accuser
  • Denies the quotes attributed to Jane Doe in the lawsuit
  • Maintains the accuser stands by her original claims

The countersuit comes after Jane Doe dropped her case last month, reportedly unwilling to reveal her identity. Carter's legal team asserts the timing and nature of the original lawsuit were calculated to cause maximum damage to his reputation.
