Bandcamp CEO Ethan Diamond announced that 100% of the company's proceeds from all purchases made this Friday will be donated to the ACLU. In his message to users, Diamond emphasized that the executive order "violates the very spirit and foundation of America" and highlighted his own family's immigrant background.
Over 400 labels and artists, including Kill Rock Stars, Tompkins Square, Alanna McArdle, and Merge Records, have joined the #NoBanNoWall campaign. While some will donate a percentage of profits to the ACLU, others have chosen to support organizations like the Nigerian Muslim Association of New York.
Notable commitments include:
- Son Lux pledging proceeds from "At War with Walls and Mazes" to the ACLU for four years
- Xiu Xiu directing all Bandcamp revenues to the ACLU for the same period
- Multiple labels offering varying percentages of their proceeds to different organizations
This industry-wide response represents one of the most coordinated efforts by the music community to oppose the administration's immigration policies.
